Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground lean turkey
- 2 cups diced apples
- 2 cups sliced carrots
- 2 cups sliced sweet potatoes
- 3 cups crushed tomatoes
- 3 Tbs tomato paste
- 1 Tbs olive oil
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp salt (divided)
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 1/2 tsp rubbed sage (divided)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- a sprinkle of nutmeg
- 1-2 cans kidney beans (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add diced apples, carrots, and sweet potatoes along with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, sage, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook for about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the ground turkey and cook until no longer pink (5-7 minutes).
- Mix in tomato paste and chili powder before adding crushed tomatoes.
- Allow the mixture to simmer on low-medium heat for 20-30 minutes. If using kidney beans, add them just before serving.
