  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1000 grams chuck or braising steak
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 cm fresh ginger, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon red chili powder (to taste)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 3 cm cinnamon stick
  • 1 piece dried bay leaf
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • Salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare all ingredients by chopping onions, garlic, and ginger.
  2. In a pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Sauté onions until translucent, then add garlic and ginger until fragrant.
  3. Stir in turmeric, coriander, garam masala, cumin, and red chili powder; cook briefly to release aromas.
  4. Transfer the mixture to your slow cooker; add beef pieces, broth, water, cinnamon stick, bay leaf, and salt.
  5. Cover and cook on low for about eight hours or high for four hours until beef is tender.
  6. Before serving, remove the cinnamon stick and bay leaf; stir in cilantro.
