  • 1 pound fresh crab meat
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped chives
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 loaf French baguette, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. If using fresh crabs, steam for about 10 minutes until bright red, then cool and extract the meat.
  2. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, add garlic, and sauté until fragrant (1-2 minutes).
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine crab meat, melted garlic butter, lemon juice, parsley, chives, salt, and pepper; mix gently.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush baguette slices with olive oil on both sides and arrange on a baking sheet.
  5. Toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Spoon the crab mixture onto each toasted slice and return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Garnish with paprika if desired and serve immediately.
