- 1 loaf brioche or challah bread
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk (or almond/oat milk)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cut the brioche or challah into thick slices and arrange them in a greased baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until combined.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread slices, pressing down to ensure absorption. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
- Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and set; broil for an additional 2-3 minutes if desired.
- Sprinkle sugar on top and use a kitchen torch to caramelize until crispy.
- Let cool slightly before serving with toppings of your choice.
