- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 2 ¼ teaspoon active dry yeast

- 3 – 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ⅔ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ teaspoon fine sea salt
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ cup granulated sugar (for topping)
- 3 Tablespoons light brown sugar (packed)
- 1 ½ Tablespoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
Instructions
- 1. Activate the yeast by stirring warm milk and yeast together; let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes).
- 2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, melted butter, and vanilla. Set aside.
- 3. In your stand mixer bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon; mix gently.
- 4. Add the foamy yeast mixture to the wet ingredients; whisk well.
- 5. Combine wet and dry ingredients in the stand mixer; mix until dough forms.
- 6. Knead on medium-low speed until smooth but slightly sticky (about 5 minutes).
- 7. Let dough rise in a lightly greased bowl covered with plastic wrap until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- 8. After rising, cut dough into pieces and shape into twisted donuts.
- 9. Allow shaped donuts to rest for about 30 minutes before frying.
- 10. Heat oil to 325°F in a Dutch oven or fryer; fry donuts until golden brown (about 5 minutes).
- 11. Toss finished donuts in cinnamon-sugar topping while warm.
