Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (cold)
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Gradually mix in warm milk until a cohesive dough forms. Knead briefly until smooth.
  2. Shape into a rectangle, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Prepare the cold butter block by rolling it between parchment sheets into a rectangle. Refrigerate until firm.
  4. Roll out chilled dough, place butter in the center, fold edges over, and roll into a long rectangle. Fold into thirds and chill again.
  5. Roll out dough again and cut triangles. Place chocolate at the base and roll towards the tip to shape croissants.
  6. Allow them to rise for 1 to 1.5 hours before baking at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
