Ingredients
- 500 g sunflower oil
- 6 shallots (thinly sliced)
- 10 garlic cloves (thinly sliced)
- 3 tbsp chili flakes
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
- Heat sunflower oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Add sliced shallots and garlic, frying until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove fried shallots and garlic with a slotted spoon; drain on paper towels.
- In a heatproof bowl, mix chili flakes, chili powder, brown sugar, and salt.
- Allow the oil to cool slightly before pouring it over the spice mixture. Stir to combine.
- Add fried shallots and garlic back into the bowl along with soy sauce and sesame seeds; mix well.
- Let cool completely before transferring to sterilized glass jars and store in the refrigerator.
